BARB IS A 4-LETTER WORD is an autobiographical show. Barb ascertains that we use many 4-letter words throughout the day.
(in addition to everybody’s favorite swear words).
A 4-letter word signals a story that Barb tells her audience that is usually quite funny and/or heartwarming. That story contains the aforementioned 4-letter word – which then sets up an appropriate song that she sings. Many of her stories include people that are in the news – in all walks of life – that she has had a friendship with.
All of Barb’s shows are known for their Love-Fest qualities.
Her audiences feel like she is talking to them personally. By the end of the evening many of them have become friends.
And they leave the venue feeling like Barb is their very best friend!!! And they can’t wait to see her again!
Barb sells out almost everywhere she goes. All of her shows are formatted for the theatre as well as a nightclub. Her song repertoire is from The Great American Songbook – the greatest hits by the most famous composers and recording artists!

CREAMY LIKE WARM CHOCOLATE: Barb Bailey’s voice lit up the room at Marchesa like a sparkling tiara reflecting the delight of audiences. She pulls a comfy warmth over everyone with her sophisticated modernist takes on the classics of American music. Like hearing a tune for the first time. When it was first written. She sends you dreaming among the stars and little chills also run through the room. Keep a brandy handy. And a hankie. A true showman. She engages the crowd and lifts them away like dessert at Marchesa. Easy to listen to, she revives us like Ella Fitzgerald did. Keep it up dear. There’s no one like you.

I wear a lot of hats. I’m based in Chicago and have an Artist Management / Booking company with a roster of singers. I also sing and write my own shows for myself and for others.
